WALLY: Chic flick. I'm out.
WALDO: But there's a girl
on girl kiss.
WALLY: Ooh. Hold the phone.
WALDO: The Hours is basically
3 storylines. Nicole Kidman plays a going
insane Virginia Woolf who's writing a book about Mrs. Dalloway,
who's 2001
reincarnation is Meryl Streep. Juliane Moore is reading the book
with her
own problems in 1951.
WALLY: Ok, you lost me again.
WALDO: But this movie is really
about women at their crossroads in life.
Each faces moments of crises in their lives. But the movie isn't
about
overcoming outer obstacles. It's about these women facing inner
demons about
not belonging, lack of a sense of self and finding a purpose in
life.
It's really refreshing to
see a movie with complex female characters who are
mid 30's and up. This movie went though the machinations of everyday
life
but it was laced with a subtext of impending doom and oppressive
dread of
the person kind.
WALLY: What the fuck did you
just say?
WALDO: It's a chick flick.
You wouldn't get it.
WALLY: But you do. That says
a lot.
WALDO: That says I understand
the human condition. And I get chicks. In more
ways then one.
WALLY: That one being paying
for it.
